The Founder
“THE STORY OF CHANDI GROUP USA begins with the founder, who EMBODIES THE AMERICAN DREAM.”
Born and raised a farmer’s son in a small village within Uttar Pradesh, India, young Nachhattar learned the value of hard work from a very early age. He would walk several miles daily to receive his schooling under a tree. Over the years, he became fascinated by the opportunities he heard about a far country called United States of America. In 1991, when he was just 20 years old, he took the risk and moved to America with the determination to make a better life for himself and his family.
From India, to Indio, he hit the ground running, and obtained a job at a small gas station in Indio, California called White’s Black Gold Gasoline. A pivotal moment in his life, Nachhattar worked tirelessly 12 hours, 15 hours, whatever it took to get the job done and keep the business thriving. A true success story, Nachhattar, in just 3 short years went from pumping gas, and fixing tires to buying the gas station and took the risk of converting it into his first ARCO AMPM franchise.

Along the way, he met the woman who would become the engine to his success: Susana Chandi. Thus, began the start of their family their 30 plus years in the franchise operations industry, which has grown into a multi-platform powerhouse enterprise known as Chandi Group USA.
Since then, the company has developed a myriad of gas stations/convenience stores, express tunnel car washes, and quick service restaurants.
“While gas stations are clearly the roots of the successful business model, over the past several years, Chandi Group USA has expanded development beyond gas stations and quick-serve restaurants, and currently holds over millions of square feet of fully entitled retail, commercial, multi-family and hospitality space planned for development.”
After several years of primarily being an owner-operator, Nachhattar developed a passion for real estate development and now spearheads multiple projects currently in various stages of development; from the Coachella Valley (greater Palm Springs area), extending into the Inland Empire and further north into Central California. Under his guidance and leadership, Chandi Group USA has also expanded to include an in-house construction company, Black Gold Builders Group, and a professional, licensed architectural, engineering and land survey team, Black Gold Engineering, Inc.
These entities were named this way to bring history and homage to the first gas station: White’s Black Gold Gasoline.
Currently, Nachhattar & Susana Chandi live in Indian Wells, CA with their 4 children: Aman Chandi, Gurvinder Chandi, Davinder Chandi, and Angelie Chandi.
